Dive Into A Sicilian Feast!

This delightful exploration of a great crossroads cuisine begins with cabuccio, a distinctive Sicilian pizza filled with tomatoes and anchovies. Next we'll sample caponata, arancini, grilled octopus with fennel-orange salad, and bucatini with fresh sardines. Lunch will end with mini-cannolis made with Sicilian ricotta and a taste of Ben Ryé, a fabulous dessert wine from Pantelleria.

These authentic specialties, prepared by Sicilian chefs Giusto Priola and Alessandro Ancona, appear also in the pages of Toni Lydecker's Seafood alla Siciliana: Recipes and Stories from a Living Tradition (Lake Isle Press, 2009). Toni will introduce the dishes and talk about the central role played by seafood in one of the world's great cooking traditions.

Donnafugata, a leading Sicilian producer, is generously contributing wines to accompany lunch. Lake Isle Press is subsidizing the cost of this luncheon, making it a great value for NYWCA members. Toni will be happy to sign copies of Seafood alla Siciliana purchased from Amazon.com or your local bookstore; copies will also be available at the luncheon for a discounted price of $25 (cash or checks only).
