Urban Gardening Workshop

Are you a green thumb wannabe? Do you need last minute points to renew your membership? Start the weekend early on Friday, May 21st and visit Eagle Street Rooftop Farms (rooftopfarms.org), a 6,000 square foot organic vegetable farm in Greenpoint, Brooklyn! You'll learn tips from their energetic partner, then get your hands dirty in an urban gardening workshop. An optional meal featuring produce from the Rooftop Farm follows the workshop.

Enjoy a 30-minute presentation from Annie Novak, a partner at Eagle Street Rooftop Farm, experienced farmer and gardener, and the children's gardening programming director at the New York Botanical Garden.

Following the lecture, we'll put the instruction to use by working on the farm and planting herbs you'll carry home to grow in your own urban garden. After the workshop, participants can enjoy a meal at Anella, a nearby Italian and French trattoria, incorporating the spring produce from the Rooftop Farm.

Directions to Rooftop Farm: Take the G train to Greenpoint Ave. Head west for 2 blocks on Greenpoint Avenue. Take a right on West Street and proceed 7 blocks to the corner of Eagle.
